Do not like "like"

I have always had my doubts about the “like” feature, but now after trying to like liking things, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s a bad thing for the tumblr community. I have noticed less reblogging, or sharing, and more liking - or keeping cool things to oneself.

I consider myself to be a user who brings original content into tumblr, rather than a user who strictly reblogs other people’s content. I think both types of users have their place in tumblr land, but now it’s harder to find new things on tumblr because the rebloggers aren’t reblogging so much of the original content. There is a reduced capacity on tumblr for a message to make its way from one corner of tumblr land to another corner. That makes me sad.

I like the concept of sharing. I like the concept of reblogging. I am going to stay over here in the fusty old lady corner and bawww about it into my tea.
